Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Alexandra commenced piano studies in Jerusalem and singing in Melbourne, Australia. An Honours graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts (University of Melbourne), Alexandra has been the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, notably the Queen’s Trust for Young Australians Award, The Australian Singing Competition comprising the Marianne Mathy and Joan Sutherland Awards, Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year Award (Vocal Category), the Mietta Song Recital Award and The Countess of Munster Star Award. These scholarships enabled Alexandra to study at the Royal College of Music, London, where she completed her post-graduate studies and received operatic training.

Alexandra performs extensively in oratorio and recital in Europe, Australia and the UK in repertoire such as Bach Mass in B minor, St. John and St. Matthew Passions, Mendelssohn Elijah, Handel Messiah and Verdi Requiem. Concert highlights have included Mahler 2nd Symphony and Songs of a Wayfarer, Berlioz Les Nuits d’Été, Elgar Sea Pictures, Prokofiev Alexander Nevsky, de Falla El Amor Brujo and Pergolesi Stabat Mater with such conductors as Christopher Hogwood, Alexander Shelley and Gianandrea Noseda and orchestras including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, The Academy of Ancient Music and the Northern Sinfonia. Alexandra made her Wigmore Hall debut in 2005 and BBC Proms debut at the Royal Albert Hall in 2006. Most recently Alexandra made her recital debuts at the St. Petersburg White Nights Festival and at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.

Alexandra’s appearances in opera include Guido (Flavio) and Irene (Tamerlano) London Handel Festival; Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos) Aldeburgh Festival; Third Lady (Magic Flute) Opera Holland Park; 3rd Wood Nymph/Jezibaba (Rusalka) Opera North; Juno/Ino (Semele) Scottish Opera; 2nd Secretary to Mao (John Adams Nixon in China) English National Opera and Théâtre du Châtelet; Malcolm (Rossini La Donna del Lago) Garsington Opera; Bradamante and Orlando (Alcina; Orlando) Opera Australia; Olga (Eugene Onegin) and Pauline (Queen of Spades) Welsh National Opera and Opera North, Mary (The Flying Dutchman) Thüringer Schlossfestspiele, and Erda (Siegfried; Das Rheingold) and Schwertleite/Grimgerde (Die Walküre) at the Tiroler Festspiele under conductor Gustav Kuhn.

Discography includes Handel’s Messiah (ABC Classics, cond. Anthony Walker); Offenbach Entre Nous (Opera Rara, cond. David Parry). Upcoming recording projects include a duo CD with Italian guitarist Adriano Sebastiani (Brilliant Classics).
