The International Anton Rubinstein Competition 2017 – VIOLIN JUNIOR is open to all young violinists whose goal it is to become successful professional musicians, and who are between 8 and 15 years old.
The competition will take place on different days for two different age groups:
8 April 2017: 8-11 years old
9 April 2017: 12-15 years old
The International Anton Rubinstein Competition 2017 – VIOLIN JUNIOR offers young musicians a unique opportunity to test their abilities and level of musical development as young artists, meet and connect with other musicians, and last but not least, have the chance to win an array of prestigious prizes.

The following prizes will be awarded in the 2017 Competition:

  • The one-year loan of a 3/4 Violin from CARLO BERGONZI II, Cremona
  • The one-year loan of a Violin from BENIGNO SACCANI, Milano
  • the loan of master bows from KNOPF family for the duration of one year
  • International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein Award
  • Blatow Foundation Award
  • Friends and Supporters of the Anton Rubinstein Academy Award
  • Participation in Masterclasses of Anton Rubinstein International Music Academy

Entry Conditions:

  1. The International Anton Rubinstein Competition 2017 – VIOLIN JUNIOR is organized by the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein in Düsseldorf and will take place on the premises of the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein in Düsseldorf, Germany on 8 – 9 April 2017.
  2. Violinists between the ages of 8 and 15 years old may take part in this competition.
  3. The competition will take place in one round in the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein, from which the Jury will decide the winners.
  4. The competition is open to the public.
  5. In the case that there are too many applications, the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein will use a lottery system to determine who is allowed to compete.
  6. The International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein will determine the order in which the competitors perform.
  7. The repertoire can be freely chosen by the candidate, but must be at least 15 minutes long for the age group 8-12 years and 20 minutes long for the age group 12-16 years.
  8. The jury has the right to interrupt any performance that exceeds the applicable time limit.
  9. The candidates are allowed to bring their own accompanists. However, if need be, and with prior arrangement, the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein will also appoint a pianist for the competitors. The fee for the pianist is 75€, (to be paid with the registration fee), and includes a one-hour rehearsal and the competition performance.
  10. The final results will be announced at the end of each competition day. More specifically: 8-11 years: 8 April 2017 around 6 pm and 12-15 years: 9 April 2017 at the end of the competition time.
  11. All participants must be present when the competition results are announced.
  12. The workshop “Care of the Violin and Bow,” given by luthier Rodolfo Angilletta, is provided as a part of the competition. The Foundation and the Sponsors’ Association will only loan master bows to candidates, (as well as their legal guardians), who have completed this workshop.
  13. With their registration, participants authorize the organizer, i.e. the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein, to use all photo, video and audio material of the competition at its discretion.
  14. The decision of the jury is final and incontestable.
  15. With his or her registration, the candidate and his or her legal guardian agree to the rules and regulations of the competition.
  16. Registration Deadline: 8 March 2017.
  17. Registration fee: 50 € until 25th March 2017 and 75 € thereafter.
  18. The registration fee is nonrefundable.
