He won first prize at the Violin Competition of the Ukraine and at the Competition of the Soviet Union. As a chamber musician, he was principal violinist of the Haydn Quartet for many years. He and Sándor Végh have had a long association in chamber music. With his piano and chamber music partners he plays almost the entire duo and chamber music repertoire from classical to modern.

Some of these works have been dedicated to him.

In 2009 and 2010 Paul Rosner and members of his ensemble made recordings of Sorbian composers for Radio Berlin, which were also released as a CD edition. In 2010, a CD of György Kurtág’s “Kafka Fragments” was released with Annette Elster, soprano.
