This unique competition for children is intended for young violinists who are still playing a ¾ violin.
Prizes include the loan of the following instruments for one year:
- an Italian ¾ violin for children made by CARLO BERGONZI, Cremona (ca. 1790)
- an English bow, made by JOHN DODD, London (ca. 1800)
- a French violin bow made by LOUIS MORIZOT, Mericourt (ca. 1930)
- further exclusive prizes provided by Thomastik Infeld Vienna
General Regulations for the Competition
- The International Competition for Young Violinists is organized by The International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein in Düsseldorf and will take place on 20 March 2016 at the academy’s premises.
- The competition is open to the public.
- The order in which the candidates perform is decided by The International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein.
- The competition is open to young violinists who are still playing a ¾ violin.
- The registration fee of 50 € is non-refundable, even if the candidate fails to appear.
- Candidates should prepare a 10 minute program.
- The candidates are allowed to choose their own repertoire, but it must be played from memory.
- Each candidate should arrange for his/her own accompaniment. The International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein can provide contact details of pianists upon request.
- All candidates are required to be present when the results are announced
- With their registration, candidates and their parents/legal guardians authorize the organizer, (i.e. The Academy), to make and use photos, recordings, and video of the competition at its discretion.
- The jury’s decision is final and cannot be contested.
- The jury reserves the right to interrupt the audition if the candidate exceeds the ten-minute time limit.
- With the registration, the winners of the competition (and, when relevant, their parents/legal guardians), agree to the winner’s performance in the awarded concert, as organized and regulated by the The International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein.
- With their registration, candidates and/or their parents/legal guardians approve of these regulations.
- The registration deadline is March 1, 2016.
