Nikita Mikhailovskii was born in St Petersburg in 1993. He began playing the trumpet at the age of six and was accepted to the special music school of the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St Petersburg at the age of seven, where he studied with lecturer Boris Taburetkin. From 2010 to 2014, he continued his studies at the State Wind Instrument Art College in Moscow with Professor Yuri Vlasenko.
From 2014 to 2021 he studied with Professor Klaus Schuhwerk at the University of Music in Basel (Switzerland). During his studies, he obtained the Bachelor’s degree (2014-2017), the Master of Pedagogy degree (2017-2019) and the Master of Performance degree (2019-2021).
He also participated in masterclasses of outstanding musicians, including Gábor Tarkövi, Sergei Nakariakov, Reinhold Friedrich, Guillaume Jehl, Hannes Läubin, Stefan Schulz, Stefan Ruf, Jürgen Ellensohn, Huw Morgan, Laura Vukobratović, Thomas Föstner, Immanuel Richter, Omar Tomasoni and Matthias Höfs.
In 2021, he won a permanent position as assistant principal trumpeter at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg. In 2022 he moved to Germany and was offered a temporary contract as assistant principal trumpet with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra (Deutsche Oper am Rhein). In 2023, he won a permanent position as deputy principal trumpet with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, where he still works today.
Since 2024, he has been teaching trumpet as a freelance lecturer at the Anton Rubinstein International Music Academy in Düsseldorf.
